Chemical Initiatives AECI Fall Arrest Anchoring structures

Through a joint venture with NOSA, HeightSafety recently designed, supplied and installed a fall arrest system and engineered anchor structure solutions for Chemical Initiatives AECI in Durban (Umbogintwini Plant) and in Johannesburg (Chloorkop Plant).

The purpose of the fall arrest structures is to ensure safe working at height when loading and offloading trucks. Chemical Initiatives is Southern Africa’s leading player in sulphuric acid and sulphur-based chemicals which madethe risk on the site extremely high and the installation very challenging.

The turn key solution included design, fabrication, civil works, corrosion protection and installation of a total of ten structures weighing 10 tons for the Chloorkop Plant and 6 structures weighing 16 tons for Umbogintwini Plant. Both sites were completed at a record time of 8 weeks.
