Understanding a Hazard Identification Risk Assessment for Fall Arrest

January 11, 2019

An overview on how to apply and to understand HIRA for basic fall arrest.

  • No group standardisation for work at height. Every department takes work at height lightly and they think they can do it themselves.

  • No subject matter experts that can carefully and comprehensively plan work at height that is productive and cost effective.

  • Lack of competence training through various work at height levels.

  • Nobody has a good understanding of how to use the various fall arrest devices for different work at height applications.

  • No certified anchor points or anchor lines. Training is done and personal work at height equipment is provided, but then there is nowhere to attach to.

  • No rescue planning, equipment or the ability to perform the rescue.
